Yolanda Hears
Yolanda Hears, one of the more prolific serial killers to ever grace this great nation of ours, murdered sixteen co-eds. Of her victims, she consumed nine of them, stating that the others ‘looked too tough to be tasty.’ In 1998, she was finally getting into her groove when she blew a tire out and a cop stopped to help her. Her sixteenth victim, Devin, who was in the trunk, rolled back and forth, and the car moved. The cop noticed, and Hears felt as though she had no choice but to beat him to death with a tire iron.
That would have been the end of that, but he’d already radioed in his stop. He was supposed to be at an anniversary dinner and figured his wife would call the station. When he didn’t show up for dinner, a nearby trooper drove by the location he’d radioed in from. Hears hadn’t bothered covering him up, worried that she would be caught if she took too much time.
The one mistake she made was huge: she left the tire iron.
If you ask her, she still doesn’t know how she could have made such an error. After over a decade of going undetected, Hears was her own undoing. Having spent a stint in jail for domestic violence against a girlfriend in college, her prints were in the system.
The hunt for her was swift. Every available police officer was dispatched to locate her. It took two days, but they found her in a motel with a maid tied up in the bathroom. She was missing an ear.
Hears was sentenced to death in Texas on October 28, 2001.
Her favorite childhood memory is of getting a dollhouse from her grandmother when she was eight. She kept it in perfect condition for five years before cutting it in half with a chainsaw.
Today, she loves to write romance novels with animals and hates working out. She spends a lot of her time alone but enjoys writing to her numerous pen pals, sharing her experiences and favorite recipes.
